We are told that the chance of dying from a vaccine is one in a million, but is that true?
Let’s start by looking at the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine insert since this covers measles, which tends to be a common illness brought up in vaccine discussions. According to the FDA package insert for the MMR it is estimated that atypical measles will occur in 6 – 22 out of 1 million vaccinated individuals and that is only for one type of reaction and there is a multitude of adverse reactions listed in the insert in section 6: Adverse Reactions, page 3.
What does the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) say regarding vaccine injury for the MMR vaccine? In 2018, 31 life threatening adverse events were reported following the MMR vaccine. (Life threatening reactions does not include hospitalization or emergency room visits.) According to the CDC about 10 million doses are given a year in the United States. If we look at all reported reactions from the MMR vaccine for the year 2018 we are looking at 1,889 reported reactions, which includes the 31 life threatening reactions that were reported.
According to the CDC about 10 million doses are given a year in the United States. For 10 million doses 31 life threatening reactions are reported, which makes the rate 3.1 per 1 million for life threatening reactions and 188.9 reactions per million over all. These numbers are just using the reported numbers, which are known to not be accurate.
According to a study commissioned by the Department of Health and Human Services and done by Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare, Inc. found that less than 1% of adverse events are reported.
If we calculate the above numbers as 1% of the actual adverse events that are happening in the United States we are looking at 3,100 life threatening adverse events following the MMR and 188,900 overall adverse events following the MMR vaccine in ONE YEAR in the United States alone. This puts an even bigger gap between the 1 in a million we are told and what is actually happening. For life threatening reactions we are looking at 310 per 1 million doses and 18,890 adverse reactions over all per 1 million doses of the MMR. That is not a minor discrepancy. That is huge and we are still using numbers that are lower than what is actually happening!
